Admin Console self-service policies FAQ
Get answers to common questions about configuring and managing self-service policies for Creative Cloud apps.
Questions are organized by workflow stage: policy application timing, policy scope, and user experience.
Policies apply to users within 24 hours of assignment to a product profile. To apply immediately, users can sign out and back in, quit and relaunch the Creative Cloud desktop app, or select Check for updates in the app.
Yes. Policies apply at the Creative Cloud desktop app level and affect all Creative Cloud apps, regardless of which product offer the policy is assigned to.
Self-service policies are turned off by default, so existing product profiles remain unchanged. You can enable policies on both new and existing profiles, including default profiles in the Admin Console.
Yes. Self-service policies always take precedence over managed package settings, even if the package's Enable Self-service setting is enabled.
No. Self-service policies are only available for product profiles based on Creative Cloud products, not Document Cloud or other Adobe products.
Policies are only available for Named User Licensing. Shared Device Licensing does not support self-service policies.
Avoid assigning conflicting policies to the same user. If a user is in multiple product profiles with both User Managed and Restricted policies, User Managed policies take precedence. Multiple User Managed policies all apply.
No. Policies currently apply only to Creative Cloud apps, not to the Creative Cloud desktop app itself.
Yes. Self-service policies apply at the product profile level, regardless of how users are added—individually, via a CSV bulk upload, or via the User Sync Tool.
