Customize Motion Graphics templates

Learn how to change a Motion Graphic template's properties to fit your video editing needs. 

Before you begin

Create a project, add clips, and add a Motion Graphic template to the sequence.

  1. Select the template in your sequence.
  2. Select Essential Graphics panel > Edit.
  3. Depending on the type of Motion Graphics template, you can:
  • Choose color, source text, or animation options from a range of choices provided by the template’s author.
  • Edit properties such as fonts, font size, faux styles, and much more.
  1. If the After Effects author has created templates with:
  • Groups of controls – Open and close groups and use the properties within the groups.
  • Controls for CSV (comma-separated value) and TSV (tab-separated value) spreadsheet data –  Change the data to the values you want.
  • Replaceable media – Replace images or videos with your own media.

  1. The template properties get updated as you change the controls.
  2. To change the duration of a Motion Graphics template, select the template in the timeline, and adjust the red arrows at the sides to increase or decrease its playing time.

Result

The customized Motion Graphics template starts reflecting in your sequence.

Note:

Motion Graphics templates from After Effects that have been used and customized in a Premiere Pro sequence can be replaced with an updated version of the template. Hold Alt or Option while you drag and drop the updated template onto the existing one in your sequence. You can choose to have the template updated everywhere it was used in the project or limit the change to one instance. Where possible, your customizations are preserved.
