Apply effects to clips to enhance your footage to achieve your creative objectives.

Before you begin

Open Premiere Pro and create a new project or open an existing one. Import media and create a sequence on the timeline.

  1. Select a clip on the timeline, and then select Window > Effects.
  2. In the Effects panel, browse for effects by category, or use the search bar to find a specific effect.
  3. To apply an effect to a video clip, drag and drop it onto the video clip in the timeline. To apply an effect to an audio clip, drag and drop it onto the audio clip in the timeline.
Note:

You cannot apply audio effects to a clip when Show Track Volume or Show Track Keyframes is enabled for the audio track.

Result

The effect is applied to the clip. Play back the clip in the timeline to see the effect. You can then customize its settings in the Effect Controls panel.
