Change the default duration for still images

Last updated on Dec 14, 2023

Learn how to change the default duration for still images in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Before you begin

Launch Premiere Pro and create a new project. Import your selected media to the Timeline panel.

1. Choose Edit > Preferences > Timeline (Windows) or Premiere Pro > Settings > Timeline (macOS).

2. For Still Image Default Duration, specify the number of frames you want to set as the default duration.

3. Select OK.

Changing the default duration of still images does not affect the duration of still images that are already part of a sequence or that have already been imported.

Tip:

Reimport the images after you change the default duration to get a different duration for them.

Result

The default duration for a still image will be set to a new duration through Preferences.
