Learn how to resolve error code 201 during Creative Cloud updates.

Error code 201 indicates an installation or update failure that occurs when the downloaded file is damaged or when your device is unable to connect to Adobe’s servers during the installation or update of a Creative Cloud app.

Solution

To resolve the error, try these solutions in the given order.

You are not connected to the internet

You need an active internet connection to download and update apps.

  1. Verify that you are connected to the internet.

  2. Once connected, select Retry to restart the download.

Network restrictions or an unstable connection are causing installation issues

If you have more than one Internet connection, try using the other one. Then, install the app again.

Software firewall has restricted access to your computer

Firewalls can block the Creative Cloud desktop app from accessing the internet.

  • If prompted by your firewall, allow the Creative Cloud desktop app to connect.
  • If not prompted, temporarily disable your firewall and try the installation again. Refer to your firewall software documentation for help. Learn the best practices for configuring Windows Defender Firewall. Also, learn how to configure a firewall in macOS.

Once you've configured the software firewall, select Retry in the installer.

Your antivirus software is blocking the download

If the issue persists after checking your software firewall, temporarily disable the antivirus software. Check your antivirus documentation for information on temporarily disabling your antivirus.

Note

If you're in an enterprise environment, contact your IT administrator to configure the firewall settings.
