Error 1001 causes update failure

Error code 1001 indicates that the Creative Cloud desktop app failed to update, usually due to a temporary issue or corrupted installation files. 

To resolve this issue, follow these solutions in the given order.

The Creative Cloud desktop app is experiencing a temporary error

Uninstall the Creative Cloud desktop app using the Creative Cloud desktop app uninstaller.

Note

Administrator privileges are required to uninstall the application.

Download the Creative Cloud desktop app installer.

The Creative Cloud desktop app installer shows a prompt asking users to check the download section of their browser for the installer file.
Launch the Creative Cloud installer to begin your download.

Note

If you're using Windows, you may be prompted to save the downloaded file. If you're using macOS, you may be prompted to allow the download.

Locate the downloaded installer file on your device and double-click it to begin the installation process.

Sign in with your Adobe ID and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

Once the installation is complete, the Creative Cloud desktop app launches automatically.

The installed files are corrupted

If uninstalling and reinstalling the Creative Cloud desktop app doesn't resolve the issue, the installed files may be corrupted. Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to perform a clean installation of your Creative Cloud desktop app. This tool is intended for advanced users and can help resolve common issues such as:

  • Removing old or incomplete Adobe software
  • Cleaning corrupted installation files
  • Fixing host file entries to restore connectivity with Adobe servers

After running the Cleaner tool, reinstall the Creative Cloud desktop app and try updating again.
