Error 708 causes installation failure

Last updated on Jul 30, 2025

Learn how to resolve error code  708  "Security zone registry settings is enabled" during Adobe app installation or update on Windows.

Error 708 occurs when the Creative Cloud desktop app fails to install or update due to restrictive Windows security zone policies. These settings are managed by your system administrator and may prevent the installer from accessing required resources.

Solution

The Security_HKLM_only registry key restricts access to system-level security settings, which can interfere with Adobe installers.

Security zone registry setting is enabled

Follow these steps to temporarily disable the registry settings and allow the download:

  1. In the Windows search bar, type regedit, and select Registry Editor.

  2. Select Run as administrator.

  3. Navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings.

  4. In the right pane, double-click Security_HKLM_only

  5. Change the value data to 0, and then select OK.

  6. Close the Registry Editor

  7. Try installing or updating the Creative Cloud desktop app again.

  8. After the installation is complete, return to the same registry key and set the value of Security_HKLM_only back to 1 to restore your original settings.
