Learn how to improve document photos by fixing angles, shadows, and lighting for cleaner, clearer PDFs.

You can use the Enhance camera image feature in Acrobat to improve document photos taken with your phone. It helps fix common issues like poor lighting, shadows, skewed angles, and unwanted background areas, and turn them into clear, compact PDFs without needing a scanner.

Open the photograph or document image in Acrobat.

Note

If prompted with a Scanned Page Alert dialog box, select Yes to proceed. In the Recognize Text dialog box, choose the page range and adjust settings as needed, then select OK to convert the image into editable text and images.

Go to All tools > Scan & OCR.

From the left panel, select Enhance camera image.

To adjust the image borders, drag the blue handles to the desired dimensions.

Select Enhance.

To fine-tune, drag the Adjust enhancement level slider and select Enhance.
