Learn how to change the font, size, color, and text formatting options in Adobe Acrobat.

Edit a PDF in a few simple steps.

Open the PDF and select Edit from the global bar.

Select the text you want to format. The text box turns blue with selection handles appearing around it.

Text formatting options allow you to modify text to match the document’s appearance.

Use the following FORMAT TEXT options to format your text:

  • Font: Select a different font from the dropdown.
  • Font size: Choose a size or enter a custom value.
  • Font color: Open the color picker to select a new text color.
  • Bold, Italic, Underline: Toggle these styles as needed.
  • Superscript/Subscript: Apply scientific notations.
  • Text alignment: Align text to the left, center, right, or justify.
  • Line spacing: Adjust the spacing between lines of text.
  • Paragraph spacing after: Set the space after each paragraph.
  • Character spacing: Choose the amount of space between letters.
  • Horizontal scaling: Adjust the width of characters.
  • Bulleted and numbered lists: Apply list formatting to your text.
Note

If you want to reverse or repeat a text edit, go to Menu (Windows) or Edit (macOS) > Undo, Redo & more > Undo, Redo and More and select the required tool.

Select outside the text box to apply the changes.
