Split PDFs

Learn to split a PDF into smaller, separate files based on pages, bookmarks, or size.

You can split one or more PDFs into multiple smaller PDFs. When splitting a PDF, you can specify the split by the maximum number of pages, maximum file size, or top-level bookmarks.

Open the PDF and select All tools > Organize pages.

In the left pane, select Split.

Select the Split by dropdown menu and choose how you want to split the document:

  • Number of pages: Divides the PDF into smaller documents with a set number of pages each.
  • File Size: Creates multiple PDFs of a specified file size.
  • Top level bookmarks: Splits the PDF at its top-level bookmarks.
The Organize pages panel shows the Split dialog box with various options: Split by, Pages, Split multiple files, and Output options.
Split your PDF into multiple documents by specifying the number of pages, file size, or top-level bookmarks.

To split multiple PDFs, select Split multiple files, select Add files, and choose the PDFs you want to split.

Select Output options to specify:

  • Destination folder for the split files.
  • Naming convention for the new PDFs.

Select Split.
