Convert PDFs to PostScript files

Last updated on Aug 16, 2025

Learn how to export a PDF to a PostScript format file for printing and prepress applications using Adobe Acrobat.

PostScript (PS) and Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) file formats are used in printing and graphics. PS is ideal for high-quality, multi-page document printing, especially on PostScript printers. EPS, a subset of PostScript, is typically used for single-page files. It is designed for embedding images, illustrations, or logos into other documents, especially in design and publishing.

Covert PDF to PS or EPS format

Select Convert from the global bar.

Select Other format from the left pane and then select EPS or PS from the dropdown menu.

Select Convert to EPS or Convert to PS.

In the dialog box that opens, select a location to save the file.

Type a name for the file and then select Save.

Adjust PDF to PS and EPS conversion settings

Select Convert from the global bar.

Select Settings to modify the export preferences.
