Add comments in callouts

Last updated on Aug 16, 2025

Learn how to add comments in callouts using Adobe Acrobat to draw attention to specific elements or areas in your PDF documents.

Select Draw freehand  from the Quick action toolbar and then select Text callout.

Select once to set the location of the endpoint and select again to set the location of the text box.

The Text box, along with the end-point line, is visible within the PDF.
Callout text boxes have three parts: a text box, a knee line, and an end-point line.

To modify the color and appearance, select Set or change properties for the selected text  from the Quick action toolbar and set the properties as desired.

Type your comment in the text box. The text will wrap automatically when it reaches the edge of the box.

Select anywhere in the document to apply the callout.

To adjust the text box size, do any of the following as needed:

  • To resize the callout, select it and drag any of the handles that appear.
  • To move the text box, select inside the box and drag it to desired location.
  • To move the entire callout, select the endpoint until the cursor changes and then drag it to the desired position.

To delete the callout, right-click it and then select Delete.
