Update watermarks

Learn how to quickly update existing watermarks in your PDFs using Acrobat on desktop.

Watermarks help identify document status, ownership, or confidentiality. You may need to update existing watermarks to reflect changes in document classification or branding. When updating watermarks, only the first added watermark will be modified. Any additional watermarks will be removed during the update process.

Open the PDF containing the watermark and select Edit from the top menu.

Note

If the PDF is secured or has form fields, watermark updates may not work. Check document permissions before proceeding.

Select Watermark > Update from the Edit tools pane.

In the Update Watermark dialog box, modify the watermark settings as needed:

  • Change the text, font, size, or color
  • Adjust the rotation angle
  • Modify the opacity
  • Select new page range options

The options in the Update Watermark dialog box allow you to update the appearance, position, and scaling of a watermark.

Select OK.

Save the updated PDF.
