Learn how to crop pages in PDFs using Acrobat on desktop.

Crop PDF pages and trim page margins in a few simple steps.

Select Edit from the top toolbar.

Select Crop page from the left pane.

Drag a rectangle over the area you want to keep. Adjust the cropping rectangle by dragging its corner handles.

Change page box settings, page size, page range, and margins from the Set Page Boxes dialog.

In the Set Page Boxes dialog box, modify the following settings as needed:

  • Show All Boxes: Displays color-coded outlines for CropBox (black), ArtBox (red), TrimBox (green), and BleedBox (blue). Overlapping boxes show one line.
  • Margin Controls - Adjusts boundaries for:
    • CropBox: Visible or printable area.
    • ArtBox (Acrobat Pro): Main content area including white space.
    • TrimBox (Acrobat Pro): Final page size after trimming.
    • BleedBox (Acrobat Pro): Area beyond trim for professional printing.
  • Constrain Proportions: Keeps all margins equal.
  • Remove White Margins: Trims white space to fit artwork.
  • Set To Zero: Resets all margins.
  • Revert To Selection: Returns to previously selected crop area.

To apply these settings to more pages, set the page range or select All under Page Range.

Select OK.

Note

Cropping a PDF only hides content; it doesn’t reduce file size. Resetting the page size restores the full original content.
