You can share a link to a PDF document with others for viewing or commenting. The shared document opens on any device and is stored securely in Adobe cloud storage. Recipients receive an email with a link to view and comment on the document in a browser without signing in.

For example, legal teams can securely share contracts, NDAs, and compliance documents. Shared links have access controls, like passwords, and allow recipients to review, comment, and sign directly in the PDF. Senders can track views and activity, facilitating collaboration and document security, whether for reports, proposals, or manager approvals.

Share links to PDFs

Share your PDFs by generating a link that others can use to access the file. You can also set specific access permissions for who can view or comment on your documents.

  1. Open a PDF in Acrobat and select Share in the Global bar.

  2. Select Link Setting and then select one of the following settings in the Share settings dialog box:

    • Anyone on the internet with the link: The file is accessible to anyone who has the link.
    • Anyone in < your organization> with the link: Only employees in your company can access the PDF. For enterprise users, this option is selected by default.
    • Invited people only: Only users who are invited can access the file.
Invite specific individuals to view or comment on the shared PDF.
Invite specific individuals to restrict access and ensure privacy and security.

    Note:

To share a PDF for viewing only, turn off the People can comment on this file toggle.

  3. Select Apply or Next as appropriate.

  4. Select the appropriate option to share the PDF:

    • Invite people: Enter the recipient's name or email and select Invite. You can also add a message and a deadline.
    • Share via third-party apps: Select any third-party app, such as Outlook, Gmail, Teams, or WhatsApp, and follow the onscreen instructions.
    • Create a link to share: Select Create a link to share    and share the copied link with recipients.
    • Send via email: Select Send a link or attach this file to an email   and follow the onscreen instructions.

Recipients receive a link to the shared document, which they can open in a browser to view and comment on. When the reviewers add comments on the PDF, you get a notification in Acrobat. Select the notification message. Acrobat opens the review PDF.

Tracking shared and received files makes it easy to manage document access and collaboration. Learn how to track and manage PDF reviews.
