Learn how to navigate and use the Acrobat workspace.

Know your workspace

Acrobat has the following three views in the workspace:

  • Home view: Access recent files, shared documents, and common tools.
  • All tools view: Browse the list of all tools available in Acrobat.
  • Document view: Work with open documents, with multiple files appearing as tabs in the same window.

Home view

When you launch Acrobat, the Home screen appears, which includes the following:

  • Information about new features to help you stay updated with the latest enhancements in Acrobat.
  • Quick tutorials to help you learn and understand key features, workflows, tips, and best practices.
  • Displays your recent documents, including cloud documents owned by you and accessed or shared with you recently.

The Home view shows the following tabs and buttons:

  • Recent: Shows recently accessed files from your computer, Adobe cloud storage, or other connected storage services. You can filter by files you have shared, shared with you, or local files. Sharing status is indicated.
  • Starred: View all your starred files.
  • Chats: Access shared files and conversations.
  • Files: Access files stored in your Adobe cloud storage, which includes:
    • Your documents: All your files are saved to the cloud.
    • Scans: Your scanned documents.
    • Shared by you: Files you have shared with others.
    • Shared by others: Files shared with you by others.
  • Other storage accounts: Access files from your computer or connected online storage accounts, such as Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Third-party apps: Integrate with meeting apps for meeting transcript features.
  • Quick details: This area previews frequently used tools when selecting a file.
  • Agreements: Access all your agreements.
  • Get notifications: Alerts you to any status changes on shared documents, including requests for viewing, reviewing, and signing. Check Acrobat notifications for more information.
  • Recommended tools: Access commonly used tools directly from the tab on the Home page.
  • Manage profile: Update your account details, set preferences, and sign out of our account.
  • Search: Search your files.
  • Get help: Access acrobat Help and tutorials, provide feedback, and learn about new features.

All tools view

The All tools view shows tools that are grouped into categories for easy access. When you select a tool category, the specific tools are displayed on the left panel. You can select the tool to take action on the open document.

The All Tools view has two sections- AI Assistant and Edit. The AI Assistant section includes AI Assistant and Generative Summary tools. The Edit section shows Edit a PDF, Organize Pages, Add Rich Media, and Prepare a Form tools.
Find and select any tool from the All tools view.

Document view

A new document in Acrobat opens in a new tab in the top bar. When you select a document, the Quick Action toolbar and the right panel appear.

View multiple documents

The application opens each PDF as a separate tab in the top bar when you open multiple PDFs. Previous and Next buttons are displayed towards the right to navigate through document tabs when you open several documents that do not fit the document view.

Global bar

The global bar includes the PDF tools such as All tools, Edit, Convert, E-sign, and the file actions, including Search, Save, Print, and Share.

The All tools menu provides options such as AI Assistant, Generative summary, Export a PDF, Edit a PDF, Request e-signatures, Create a PDF, and more.
Select the All tools menu to access all your Acrobat tools from one place.

Right panel

The right panel includes options that allow you to bookmark, view, navigate pages, and access zoom settings and viewing options. You can customize the navigation pane to include your preferred settings.

The Generative summary, Comment, Bookmark, Page Thumbnails, and Articles tools are highlighted in the top navigation panel.

Quick action toolbar

The Quick action toolbar includes tools like commenting, annotating, and filling out forms that users can quickly access. The panel is a floating widget that users can customize for specific workflow requirements.

The Quick action toolbar shows Select or Pan, Add comment, Highlight, Draw, Fill in forms, and Sign tools.
You can select or pan objects from the Quick Action toolbar, add comments, draw shapes, highlight text, fill out forms, and sign documents.

You can use the Options    menu to add more tools to the Quick action toolbar. In the Customize toolbar window, choose the tools you want to add and select Save
