Learn how to automatically map source audio channels in Premiere Pro.

Mapping source audio channels on import helps you control how audio is arranged in your project. It’s useful when working with multi-channel clips, letting you choose which channels to use and how they’re set up before you start editing.

  1. Select Preferences > Timeline.

  2. Select your options in the Default Audio Tracks section as per your requirements.

    Set how imported audio clips are mapped by default using the Default Audio Tracks section in the Timeline preferences.

  3. Select OK.
