Learn how to restore preferences in Premiere Pro to fix issues or undo accidental changes.

Caution:

Restoring custom preferences might reinstall the troubled settings back to Premiere Pro.

  1. Close Premiere Pro.

  2. Navigate to the preferences folder.

  3. If you reset preferences through Adobe Creative Cloud Diagnostics, open the backup folder named Profile-<name>_bkp_<lastest time stamp>.

  4. Locate the following files inside the backup folder:

    • KYS File for keyboard shortcuts
    • Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs file for general preferences
    • Layouts folder for workspaces
  5. Copy and replace these files into your current preferences folder to restore your settings.

  6. If you had renamed the folder, restore it with the default name (Profile-<name>).

  7. If you moved the folder to another location, return it to its original location.

The next time Premiere Pro is launched, the preferences will be restored.
