Import a Premiere Elements project

Learn how to import a Premiere Elements project into Adobe Premiere Pro to continue editing with advanced professional tools.

  1. Select File > Open Project.

    Open Project is highlighted in the File menu.
    Select Open Project from the File Menu to browse for PREL files.

  2. Browse to an Adobe Premiere Elements project file, with a filename extension of .prel.

  3. Select Open.

  4. Select OK in the Convert Project dialog box.

    The Convert Project dialog shows a note saying, "This project was created with Adobe Premiere Elements and must be converted. Standard Definition pixel aspect ratios will be updated for compatibility and improved accuracy. The original project file will not be modified. Continue?". It also shows the Location and Name of the file, along with OK and Cancel buttons.
    To convert a PREL file to an accessible format in Premiere Pro, select OK in the Convert Project dialog.
