Copy and paste clip effects

Last updated on Jun 23, 2025

Learn how to quickly apply the same effects to multiple clips in Adobe Premiere Pro by copying and pasting.

Copying effects between clips allows you to maintain consistency and save time editing your video projects. For example, you can apply identical color correction to a series of clips shot in similar lighting conditions. You can copy effects from a clip in one sequence track and paste them onto another.

Before you begin:

Create a project and add clips to the timeline. Apply effects to one or more clips that you want to copy from.

  1. Go to the Timeline panel.

  2. Select a clip or clips with the effects you want to copy.

  3. Select Edit > Copy.

  4. Select the clip where you want to paste the effects.

  5. Select Edit > Paste or select Edit > Paste Attributes to paste all effect values, including keyframes.

  6. Select the effects and keyframes in the Paste Attributes dialog.

The intrinsic effects, Motion, Opacity, Time Remapping, and Volume, are replaced, existing effects are retained, and new effects are added.

Note:

Keyframes are placed at similar positions in the target clip. If the target clip is shorter, keyframes may extend beyond its Out point. Adjust the Out point or deselect Pin to Clip to view them.
