Last updated on Jun 23, 2025

Learn how to edit transcripts while working with Text-Based Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.

  1. Create a new project, select the media you'd like to import and open the Text-Based Editing workspace.

  2. In the Project panel, double-click the clips you want to transcribe.

  3. In the Text panel, select Transcribe.

  4. After transcribing the source clip using the Text panel, select the   icon and then Export > Export to text file.

  5. Make the required corrections in the source text.

  6. Select Import > Import corrected transcript (txt).

Note:

You can use the built-in spell check feature or the search and replace feature to correct the spelling of uncommon words or names in Premiere Pro. The text file should only be used for correcting spelling errors. If sections are deleted, the imported file will not work.
