Use FX badges

Last updated on Jun 24, 2025

FX badges in Adobe Premiere Pro are visual indicators that display information about the effects applied to a clip.

FX badges appear at the top-right corner of clips in the Timeline panel. They indicate the presence of visual effects, audio effects, or other adjustments applied to the clip.

Hover over the badge to see the effects added to the selected clip. The FX badge is disabled if no effects have been added to the clip and is underlined if a source effect has been added.

  1. Select the  badge to open the Effects Controls panel and edit the effects applied to the clip.

  2. Right-click the FX badge to see the effects added to the clip, then edit them using the Effect Controls panel. You can also choose Add Effects to open the Effects panel directly and add effects to the clip.

    Tip:

When an effect is added, the FX badge turns bright white, indicating that the effect is applied to the clip.

The UI shows the Edit Audio Type option selected with option to select between the four audio types — Dialogue, Music, SFX and Ambiance open.
With FX clip badges, simply right-click to add effects and one-click to edit effects without leaving or changing your workspace.
