Learn how to create and edit a multi-camera target sequence to easily switch between camera angles and keep your edits organized.

Before you begin

Create a multi-camera source sequence and bring it to the timeline so you can start editing it like any other sequence.

  1. Right-click the multi-camera source clips (stored in Processed clips folder) in the Project panel and select New Sequence from Clip to create your target sequence. This will create a new sequence with tracks for each camera angle.

  2. In the Program Monitor, select the Button editor and select Toggle Multi-Camera View and drag the button to the Program Monitor button bar.

  3. Toggle the Multi-Camera View button to put the Program Monitor into Multi-Camera mode.

In this mode, you can view the footage of all cameras simultaneously and switch between cameras to choose footage for the final sequence.

  4. (Optional) Add overlays. The overlay adds a number to each of the clips that make up your multicam clip. Toggling this on allows you to use hotkeys to cut between camera angles. To add overlays, select the wrench icon on the Program Monitor and select Overlays.

  5. In the Program Monitor or Timeline panel, press the spacebar or select the Play and Stop toggle buttons to play back the video. While the sequence is playing, press the number key on the main keyboard to cut to the camera with that number.

  6. Play back the video after making your changes. You can see the cuts on the timeline where the cameras change.

  7. (Optional) To change a camera, select the clip on the timeline, and then select the camera on the Program Monitor. To change the timing of a cut, select the Rolling Edit Tool on the toolbar and move the placement of the cut.
