Learn how to transcribe source media while editing videos using Text-Based Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro.

The first step in most video editing projects is selecting the content you want and arranging it on the timeline to create a rough cut. Text-Based Editing allows you to do this quickly and efficiently.

  1. Launch Premiere Pro and create a new project.

  2. Select the media you’d like to import.

  3. Under the Import settings panel in the upper right corner, enable Automatic transcription and set the Transcription preferences to auto-transcribe all imported clips. You can also update your Language and Speaker labeling options as per your requirements.

  4. Select Import.

  5. Once the transcription is complete, open the Text-Based Editing workspace to view your transcripts.
