Premiere Pro freezes on the splash screen

Last updated on Jun 23, 2025

Learn how to troubleshoot installed plug-ins when Adobe Premiere Pro hangs on the splash screen.

Issues with plug-ins can cause Premiere Pro to hang on the splash screen while launching. Check the splash screen to see whether the app is frozen while loading a specific plugin.

You can use the indication in the Premiere Pro splash screen to identify the plugin causing the app to hang.
The Premiere Pro splash screen can help you identify which plug-in is causing the application to hang.

  1. Use the Premiere Pro splash screen indication to view the plugin loading and note which plugin it hangs on.

  2. Once you identify the plug-in causing the problem, check the MediaCore folder to verify whether the installed plug-ins are compatible with Premiere Pro.

    • For Windows: C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\7.0\MediaCore
    • For macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore
  3. Move the plug-ins temporarily from this location to any other folder.

  4. Check if Premiere Pro works appropriately without the third-party plug-ins. If this resolves the issue, then update the plug-ins or contact the plug-in vendor for a compatible version.
