Create credit rolls

Last updated on Jun 23, 2025

Create rolling credits in Adobe Premiere Pro using the Properties panel to design smooth, customizable text animations for professional film endings.

Enabling Roll allows you to create title or credit rolls that move vertically over the screen. When Roll is enabled, you see a translucent blue scroll bar in the Program Monitor. This Document View scroll bar allows you to scroll the text and graphics in your credit roll for easier editing. You don't have to move the playhead in the timeline to a specific position.

Before you begin

Add text to your project. Make sure that the text layer in the Program Monitor is deselected. If one or more layers are selected in the Program Monitor, the Roll option is not visible.

  1. Select a graphic in your timeline and navigate to the Properties panel.

  2. Select the check-box next to Roll to enable credit rolls.

  3. Specify whether you want your text or other layers to start or end offscreen.

  4. Adjust the timing for Preroll, Postroll, Ease in, and Ease out using the timecode for each property.

Adjust speed, layout, and style of the roll credits to fit your film's unique look.

  5. Select the Soften checkbox if you want to smoothen the motion of your rolling text.
