Troubleshoot no sound during playback issue in Adobe Premiere Pro on Windows or macOS devices.

To resolve the issue of no sound during playback or preview in Adobe Premiere Pro on Windows or macOS, start by identifying which clips are missing audio during playback.

Create a test clip of color bars with a 1-kHz tone to determine which clips are missing sound during playback.

  1. Create a project.

  2. In the Project panel, right-click anywhere on the empty space area > New Item > Bars and Tone.

  3. In the New Bars and Tone dialog box, without adjusting any of the default settings, select OK.

  4. In the Project panel, double-click Bars and Tone. The Bars and Tone clip opens in the Source Monitor

    Tip:

    If Bars and Tone clip doesn't open in the Source Monitor, then drag the clip to the timeline.

  5. Select the Play button in the Source Monitor (or play the clip from timeline). If you don’t hear the tone, follow the instructions based on the scenarios below:
