iPhone HDR clips are unsupported for Generative Extend

Last updated on Jun 23, 2025

Learn how to work with iPhone HDR clips when using Generative Extend in Adobe Premiere Pro.

To use iPhone HDR clips, follow these steps to convert them to a supported format:

  1. Create or switch your sequence to the Rec. 709 color space. Select Sequence Menu > Sequence Settings > Color Management > Color Setup. Then, select Direct Rec 709 (SDR).

This enables the built-in tone mapping to automatically convert all HDR content on the timeline from HDR to SDR.

  2. Once tone-mapped, right-click the clip in the timeline and choose Render and Replace, or use the option under the Clip menu.
