Supported codecs and drivers for hardware-accelerated decoding

Last updated on Jun 23, 2025

Learn about the codec platforms and drivers for hardware-accelerated decoding supported in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Supported codec platforms

Hardware-accelerated decoding works with MP4 media using H.264/AVC and HEVC codecs. Premiere Pro, Adobe Media Encoder, and After Effects (version 22.0 and later) support HEVC 4:2:2 10-bit decoding on Intel platforms.

M2TS (MPEG-2 Transport Stream) isn’t supported. To improve the playback of 4K M2TS media, it's transcoded to MP4 using hardware-accelerated decoding. This might not significantly improve performance for HD M2TS media.

On systems with 8 GB or less RAM, hardware-accelerated decoding on an integrated Intel GPU can be limited, causing the CPU to take over. For better performance, 16 GB of RAM or more is recommended.
