Create a sequence

Last updated on Jun 24, 2025

Learn how to create sequences and switch between them in Adobe Premiere Pro to streamline your editing workflow.

Every Premiere Pro project can contain one or more sequences, and each sequence in a project can have different settings. You can assemble and rearrange sequences in one or more Timeline panels, where the clips, transitions, and effects are represented graphically. A sequence can consist of multiple video and audio tracks running parallel in a Timeline panel.

Premiere Pro allows you to specify the settings for each sequence, trim clips, and assemble clips in sequences.

  1. Create a project and import media.

  2. To create a sequence, drag a clip from the Project panel to the New Item icon in the Project panel.

  3. To add media to an existing sequence, drag a clip from the Project panel to an existing sequence on the timeline.
