Learn how to add guides in Program Monitor to ensure alignment, accuracy and consistency during video editing.

Guides in Program Monitor are important for maintaining accuracy, consistency, and alignment during video editing. These guides offer visual reference points that assist in precisely positioning elements such as text, graphics, logos, and other visual components.

Add guides

  1. If the rulers are not visible, select Program Monitor and then select View > Show Rulers.

  2. Select View > Add Guide or right-click a ruler and select Add Guide.

  3. In the Add Guide dialog box, select the orientation and color of the guide, enter a position, and select OK.

The Add Guide dialog box is open with options to set Position, Units, Color, and Orientation.
Use the Add Guide dialog box to set the guide's details before adding it.

  4. Alternatively, you can also drag from the horizontal ruler to create a horizontal guide and drag from the vertical ruler to create a vertical guide.

  5. After adding all guides, you can also lock them to prevent any accidental moving. To lock all guides, select View > Lock Guides.

Note:

Guides are persistent across all projects and sessions.

Remove guides

  1. If guides are locked, select View > Lock Guides to unlock the guides.

  2. To move a specific guide, drag it out of the Program Monitor.

  3. To delete all guides at once, select View > Clear Guides.
