Share markers with After Effects

Learn how you can share markers between Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.

You can share markers between Premiere Pro and After Effects in any of the following ways.

Import a Premiere Pro project into After Effects

  1. Open After Effects.

  2. Select File > Import > File.

  3. Select your Premiere Pro project (.prproj) file.

    After Effects will convert sequence markers from Premiere Pro into composition markers.

Use dynamic link

  1. In Premiere Pro, select the sequence you want to share.

  2. Select File > Adobe Dynamic Link > Import Premiere Pro Sequence in After Effects.

    The markers will appear as composition markers in After Effects.

Copy and paste clips with markers

  1. In Premiere Pro, select the clip or sequence with markers.

  2. Press Ctrl+C (Windows) or Cmd+C (macOS) to copy.

  3. Open After Effects and select the timeline or composition.

  4. Press Ctrl+V (Windows) or Cmd+V (macOS) to paste.

    The markers will be preserved as layer or composition markers, depending on the context.
